Ashley Acheson is a Professor and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Director of the Neurodevelopmental Risk and Resilience Program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He is a behavioral neuroscientist with longstanding research interests in understanding behavioral and neurobiological mechanisms underlying risks for substance use disorders (SUDs). He has an extensive background in assessing impulsivity, decision-making, and cognition using behavioral laboratory-based measures and neuroimaging. His research program is primarily focused on studying children and young adults with family histories of SUDs and other at-risk populations with the ultimate goal of facilitating better prevention, early intervention, and treatment strategies for SUDs.
